Read Like A Star!!

Our first assembly of the year was all about reading like a star.  Since our school-wide theme for the year  is Hollywood the students are encouraged to read 5000 minutes for the year so they can come to the "Red Carpet Event" at the end of the year.  At the assembly we were told about a few different books that our school's library has.  Mrs. McLaws and Mr. Hogan got us interested in the stories and then left us hanging. . . telling us we had to go read the book to find out how it ends.  Then we did a fun activity that went along with that story.  We had three people in our class that got to participate and the rest of us loved cheering them on!!

One of the books was non-fiction about mummies so it was Stryder's job to wrap Tre up as a mummy with toilet paper before the other team.
Stryder was pretty speedy going round and round.  By the end Tre became a great looking mummy.  Way to go boys!

Another book we read was about a messy room.  Kyla had to pick up all the toys blindfolded and get them into the bucket.  She did a great job and finished first!

Each month this year Mrs. Wilcox will recognize three students from each class for their extraordinary work.  She will have them walk the red carpet to receive their award and their pictures will be displayed in the hall by the office.
Our class had three stars recognized:
Aliyah for reading, Matt for leadership, and Sierra for math.
Way to go!!!  You three are such great students.  Keep up the SPECTACULAR work!!!!
